In 2022, Nicola Vigilanti travelled across no less than ten states in the United States to make a documentary on the American myth, which became both a journey towards the other, so far away and so close, and an introspection leading to a committed questioning.

As witness to this long introspective journey, this photographic exploration directs our gaze towards a "grainy", "raw", undefined America.

​

Reduced to the bare minimum, Nicola's photography attempts to convey the complexity and ambiguity of a system that has not yet fulfilled its promises and yet remains open to all possible interpretations.

​

Nicola Vigilanti 's work has given rise to a photographic book, accompanied by texts by Catherine Raspail.

​

This exhibition is a part of the Résonance network, alongside of the official itinerary of the 17th Biennale de Lyon - Art contemporain.
